It is 1886, and the Lazzarini family sets up a shoemaker's workshop in Ascoli Piceno in Italy. Characteristic of Lazzarini's work are the flexibility and comfort he manages to impart to all the footwear he makes. The younger Lazzarini, Emidio, then takes up the family business in the fifties, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
As John Charles, Juventus' star player, puts on Emidio's shoes for the very first time, he exclaims: “This is not a shoe, it is a slipper. A golden slipper!”, giving the brand its name: Pantofola d'Oro (the Golden Slipper). This 'slipper' has been worn by many icons of the beautiful game: Bergomi, Capello, Di Canio, Garrincha, Klinsmann, Mancini and many others performed their legendary stuff on this legendary slipper.
