Santos' most famous player is Pelé, who joined the first team in 1956 at the age of 15. With Pelé, the club won the state championship nine times, three Copa Libertadores, six Brazilian cups and twice the Intercontinental Cup. After Pelé left, Santos fell into a deep depression.
