In the 1977-78 season, Club Brugge reached the European Cup final. To date, it is the only time a Belgian football club has reached the European Cup final. The final was played at Wembley Stadium against Liverpool. Club Brugge were missing a key player in Raoul Lambert, and it was thanks to goalkeeper Birger Jensen's strong performance that Liverpool didn't take the lead early on.
