The retro shirts by COPA Football are designed with great attention to detail and feature the same design as the original shirts from back in the day. The same applies to the retro track jackets. Besides their historical look, these items are also perfect for casual wear.
The collection also includes comfortable T-shirts, such as the well-known DDR captain’s shirt. These shirts offer a great fit and are ideal for everyday use. In addition, the DDR retro football shirts can be customized with your own name and number or that of your favourite player.
The national football team of the German Democratic Republic was founded in 1952 and represented East Germany until reunification in 1990. The team was known for its discipline, physical strength and tactical organisation.
The greatest moment in DDR history came during the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany. In that tournament, DDR defeated West Germany 1-0 in the group stage, thanks to a goal by Jürgen Sparwasser. This victory became one of the most iconic moments in football history.
Although DDR only qualified once for a World Cup, the team regularly participated in the Olympic Games, where it achieved great success, including winning the gold medal in 1976 in Montreal.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany in 1990, the DDR national team was dissolved. Many players moved on to the German national team or gradually disappeared from international football. Despite its relatively short existence, the DDR national team remains a unique and nostalgic chapter in football history.
