The vintage rugby ball with the John Woodbridge logo is made of 6 leather panels. Inspired by balloons from the 1920s and 1930s, it is hand-sewn using traditional techniques and made from carefully selected leather. Rugby was an Olympic sport during the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924. In Colombes, the tournament was played without British or southern hemisphere teams and only 3 countries participated: France, the United States and Romania. René Crabos, nicknamed at the time "the genius of rugby" or "Napoleon" for his qualities as a leader and tactician, was the captain of the XV de France that faced the Americans in the final. This match would go down in history, not for the quality of the game played, but for the violence that gave the match its luster. Stronger and better prepared, the Californian academics won 17-3 after a thrilling match in a hostile atmosphere that escalated several times into a brawl and caused rugby to be removed from the program of the Games.
